The Musicians

Our musicians are mostly aged from about 9 to 15, although some are older including a few parents. They are generally of an intermediate standard but like to learn new music and pick it up quickly. We see ourselves as a transition between beginner level bands (such as many school bands) and more serious performing groups. Primarily Brass is about performing and having fun.

The band includes the instruments clarinet, euphonium, flute, percussion, piccolo, saxophone, trombone, trumpet and tuba.

Primarily Brass offers a range of opportunities for young musicians in a variety of situations. Players in primary school bands finding their music too easy can attempt new musical challenges. Those moving into high school may want to get more experience in performing to make their transition easier and to more quickly gain places in their school’s advanced bands.

We expect players to remain with their school bands (rehearsals and performances shouldn’t conflict) and take the skills they learn in Primarily Brass back to those bands.

We rehearse in Beecroft or Epping on Friday evenings. Dates are usually on the website.
